Stressed? Overwhelmed? Don’t feel like you will ever get ahead? Try these 7 steps and begin streamlining your day and begin to take your life back.
Some time ago I had 3 kids under 4 and was stuck in the endless cycle of overwhelm. Since then I’ve learned a few things to streamline my day and win the battle of never getting anything done.
Does This Scenario Sound Familiar?
You begin your day with good intentions of getting so much accomplished. Before you know it you find yourself speeding through the blur of a day just putting out fires.
Your weary head hits the pillow at night filled with shame and guilt for not doing what you set out to do.
You tell yourself you will do better just to will yourself to sleep that night.
The next morning arrives and the very thing you said you were going to break free from happens again.
It’s a vicious cycle.
Every night you go to bed wondering why it feels like you just ran a 10k and your house looks like an F4 tornado ripped through it, leaving no toy or piece of clothing untouched.
Oh, trust me I’ve been there! I still go through seasons where I need to pull myself together and put a new plan in action to get ahead of it.
Prep For Morning
Tidy Up Before Bed -This is so important in streamlining your day, NEVER leave things the night before that could get done before you go to bed. i.e. dishes in the sink, laundry in the dryer, toys everywhere. You will wake up the next morning behind already. It only takes a few minutes to tidy up, so do yourself a favor and give yourself a clean slate every morning.
Lay out clothes for you and the kids, get your lesson plans and books laid out and ready if you homeschool, pack lunches, make lists if you are planning on grocery shopping or running errands.
Also, write a quick to-do list of only 3 things that you want to accomplish the next day. Like, clean out a closet, scour the showers, clean a drawer…anything that you can do in 20 minutes or less.
