Wait patiently for the LORD. Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the LORD. Psalm 27:14
When things fall apart, we tend to want to curl up in the corner and give up. I know sometimes it seems as though things will never change or get better.
Will my marriage ever get better?
Will we ever get out of debt?
Will my children ever listen to me?
Will I ever find a job I like?
Will I ever lose this weight?
I’ve asked myself many of these questions on occasion. But change will come! And if you are waiting on the Lord you will have peace while you wait. I have been in many seasons of waiting and let me tell you there is victory when it is all said and done.
When Things Fall Apart – Grow
Adversity may seem like a bad thing on the surface, but good can come out of it. James 1-2 says, My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. When we respond in a way that doesn’t feel normal, like respond to hate with love or lack with giving that is when things start to happen and turn around and you throw satan off his game. But also we grow exponentially during these seasons. We build character, and learn to develop our fruits of the spirit.
Life is 10% of what happens to you and 90% how you respond. So how will you respond? Will you count it all joy when the trial comes? Choose to respond in line with the Word and your outcome will be Blessed.
Just as we develop our physical muscles through overcoming opposition – such as lifting weights – we develop our character muscles by overcoming challenges and adversity. -Stephen Covey
When Things Fall Apart – Don’t Fall With Them
The enemy has specific assignments against you and your family. His M.O. is to steal, kill and destroy. But he has no power in any of those attempts if you are always found resting and waiting on the Lord. After all the ONLY thing that gives satan any power in our lives is US. Yep, it’s true. All his, so called power is only active if you believe it. So what do we do when things fall apart? Just wait longer.
I know this may sound strange to some, but in the spirit realm there is a whole other process happening…
I liken it to the old school cartoons, I do believe there have been many, but the one that comes to remembrance is Tom and Jerry. You know the one with the angel on one shoulder and the devil on the other, while this may not be completely accurate, it is similar. If you are a Christian, God’s angels are assigned to you, but if you are listening to the devil, he has the authority at that time.
So picture this cartoon with me if you will.
You are going about your business, singing away to a tune on your radio, your favorite tune, “I surrender all” and suddenly, someone cuts you off on the highway.
You have two choices
A) Get mad and chase them down to cut them off (left shoulder the devil)
B) Give it to God and pray for them and bless them {right shoulder angel)
While choice (A) may seem like the most “feel good” choice you are putting yourself in position for disaster, giving the devil the lead role and ultimately the power in your life. Thus stopping your angels from moving on your behalf. Thus your life will continue to fall apart.
Psalm 103:20 says, Bless the LORD, you His angels, Mighty in strength, who perform His word, Obeying the voice of His word! Speaking His word in this situation would be ideal. His angels will move on your behalf and keep you focused on His path to peace.
While choice (B) probably the road less traveled choice, you will be blessed and stay in your peace while still holding your “waiting on the Lord” pattern, victory and that job you have been praying for is on the way! Allowing your angels to continue to work for the glory of God in your life. Cue the song “I surrender all“… lol.
In this example the highway is the road to your breakthrough, the person cutting you off is the devil, and the choices you make (a or b) will ultimately decide if you have to wait longer. There will always be someone cutting you off, but it is how you respond to that attack that will determine your end result.
“To be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.” Romans 8:6
See when we pray and wait patiently we are growing and we are allowing God to work , when we choose to doubt, then pray, then doubt, then pray, we are stopping our angels from moving on our behalf. Allowing satan to wreak havoc in our life.
So I will leave you with this if you are waiting on the Lord, just wait longer. When things fall apart, just wait longer. If you are feeling like you can’t go on, please, just wait longer. Breakthrough is on the way. Don’t let anger, doubt or anything come in the way of you and the victory that is already yours. As you face each new day, God gives you new hope. Do not be disheartened. Be patient, wait on the Lord and your victory is right around the corner.
