If you’re like me, you’ve probably struggled with the question of how to get your kids off the screen.
I know it’s hard! It’s tempting to just let them play Minecraft or watch YouTube videos instead of doing screenfree things. But I’m here to tell you that there’s a better way.
No Screentime Until
That’s why I came up with this free printable: No Screentime Until… It helps you set boundaries for your kids by creating a checklist of things they need to accomplish before they can play on screens. And it’s easy—just print it out and hang it up somewhere visible in your home!
Your kids will love it because they feel like they have more control over the situation, and they’ll actually be able to concentrate on doing what they need to do instead of worrying about when they get a chance to play Fortnite again.
Keeping it Real
Don’t let screens be a part of your child’s day without these simple rules!
This is perfect for my kids’ bedrooms. They’ll need to do these things before they get their phones or ipods back. This way they can’t say I’m not fair because their sibling didn’t have to do it.
Better yet they now have chores which will have to be completed before screens. It’s like having a cell phone curfew so I don’t have to say you can’t use your device but at a certain time of night instead we just give it back after the chores and activities are done and let them earn it back as they please.
No more fights about keeping the room clean if i make them do a chore first, no more pestering me unless they prove they earned it by getting these things done first. Finding educational ways to use technology like podcasts is a great thing to check out as well.

Enforce the Hard Stuff
Let’s face it. As parents, we don’t always enforce rules and things can get overlooked. So how do you enforce screen-free time at home? I’ve created an adorable printable – No Screentime Until – that outlines what to do this summer, and what they should be doing before looking at screens.
Mom, I know that you’re busy. That’s why I’ve created this free printable for no screentime until certain things are done. You can use it to keep your kids from wasting their summer on electronics.
Just print it out, hang it somewhere where everyone can see it, and get ready to see your kids’ attention span skyrocket and moods lift!
Hopefully, at the very least, this printable No Screentime Until – will make it easier for you to set your kids up for success by creating a routine. Until then, I suggest setting timers to limit screen time and stick to a schedule. Even if they don’t have homework or are too little to really have responsibilities, setting limits can make a huge difference in their development and limit the problems down the road. I look forward to seeing the results in my own kids over time!
