It is no surprise that you can scroll through your newsfeed on Facebook on any given day and see drama. People arguing, fussing, fighting spewing opinion based comments fueled by hate.
I can totally understand this usually, really not that surprising, but when it is Christian Vs. Christian, it bothers me! A LOT!
For we are not fighting against flesh and blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places. -Ephesians 6:12
These days, as Christians, we not only have to go against the wiles of the devil, apparently we now have to battle each other along with the religious spirit that is running rampant.
For What?
To prove “I know more than you” or “I am more godly than you”? “Well my church believes this” or “The Bible says that tongues have ceased”. Ugh!

What does God say?
LOVE!!!!
For since there is jealousy and quarreling among you, are you not worldly?” Paul wrote to the Corinthian church, and then later said: “The very fact that you have lawsuits among you means you have been completely defeated already. Why not rather be wronged? Why not rather be cheated?” (1 Cor. 3:3 and 6:7; all quotations taken from the NIV).
Is this love?
There’s nothing wrong with a good healthy loving debate, but I get frustrated at times by the way “Christians” tear each other apart and leave nothing left untouched. Becoming like vultures on the internet- via Twitter, Facebook, Instagram whatever your social network of choice may be. Just looking for a believer to say something in a way you don’t agree or maybe you don’t have enough faith to believe.
Waste Not
Why do we waste our days that God has blessed us with doing the works of the enemy, that is really what it is, if there is any ounce of selfish wicked intention in that Facebook comment. Let’s face it – we are wrong to act like this!
If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing. -1 Corinthians 13:1-3
We are one body
Have you ever thought that maybe, just maybe, you or they haven’t received that revelation yet? That God might have you both strong in separate areas, like they are the right arm and you are the left arm of the body? Okay, maybe they aren’t quite ready to write a Bible Prophecy Course, but that may not be their calling.
We need to take a step back and examine if this is truly what God wants us to say to God’s child. Or is this just what “I FEEL” like saying?
Think about it this way
Two Believers in a comment thread, arguing. There’s also an atheist and a person who is close to saying yes to God, but still isn’t sure if they believe.
What do you think that atheist in the Facebook thread is thinking when you are agreeing with his beliefs? And the other unbeliever also watching the comments watching you argue and becoming more unsure and confused? Is he going to choose Jesus then? So you really think this glorifies God?
Listen to me please!
There are no two people, Christian or not, that are going to agree on everything…Never! Why do you think the church has broken up into many denominations, because they disagreed with what their church said once and so they just left then founded and created their own church based on their personal opinions of the gospel.
It’s as simple as this if you don’t agree with something another believer posts, why not just pray for them? Take it to the throne first and foremost. We are the body of Christ, supposedly uniting to fight on the same side…the Good side…the Winning side…please remember this.
Don’t forget
Have we forgotten who the real enemy is? The enemy’s plan is to divide and conquer, there is no need to corner a new Christian and make them feel like they are lost or they just aren’t cutting it. If you are truly walking the path of God, by now you know it’s not easy and it takes a lifetime to mature. If they are truly sinning against God then it is He who should reprimand them shouldn’t it? Think about it when your two children are arguing, who ultimately is the disciplinary? One of the kids? or you the parent? Let it go and let God handle it in His way.
Encourage don’t tear down! Let’s not forget who the enemy is shall we. Be Blessed and stay in LOVE!

This post will forever be relevant. It’s sad that His followers aren’t abiding by His word, but I think it is most likely because many do not read His word or seek Him. I know for certain when you begin to apply the teachings and becoming doers as James suggested arguing and such is less likely to happen.
Forest Rose says
Yes! Great point! We need to be doers! Also, I think a lot of the problem is reading the bible without the Holy Spirit. We need the Spirit to reveal the truth and make it part of who we are, not just something we read and then carry on with life as normal. When we read the bible without the Spirit, we become judgemental, critical and basically finger pointers.

Well said! It is so sad when Christians square off instead of remembering that we are all a part of the same time. If we united, imagine where we would be spreading the Good News! I’m so glad I stumbled upon your site through Cornerstone Confessions. I am going to be a first time homeschooling mom in the fall as I teach my daughter with Autism from home. I am terrified but it looks like you have great resources here so I am your latest fan!

United we are strong divided we shall fall…(I think that is the saying lol) So true!!
Congrats and welcome to the homeschool world! So glad you popped in:-) I am here to lend an ear or prayer or direction or anything you may be in need of. Feel free to contact me…seriously. And by the way terrified is completely normal! You can do it momma!

Preach, preach, PREACH! You are so right! We love the Bible as long as it makes us feel good, but when Jesus says stuff like “Agree with your adversary quickly,” or “A soft answer turns away wrath,” we don’t seem to like that part so much. We need to be reminded that we’re dead to serving self and alive in Christ now. Awesome, strong word. Love it!
Forest Rose says
Yep! Amen! We need to do a lot more of the “grin and bear it” and less I’m right your wrong! Humble and selfless seems to be unheard of these days. Be like Christ—Love 🙂 Thanks Jamie!
