Do you teach about famous artists in your homeschool?
Art history hasn’t really been in our lesson plans that much, or at all really. But in the back of my mommy mind, I always wanted to add it but had no clue where to start.
Honestly, I don’t really know much about it, so I was a bit intimidated. Yep, true story, Art History makes me feel a bit overwhelmed. I’ve seen lots of homeschool moms post about how they are studying Michelangelo or Pablo Picasso and I cringe. lol.
While I know a few of the household names of famous artists and can MAYBE name a couple of their famous pieces, I just feel like I would be lost. And if I’m being truthful, I never got into it. (sigh) But Alas, I’m coming out of it for my kids’ sake. I can do this! Thanks to Beth Napoli of Onlineunitstudies.com I have been confidently learning alongside my girls using her AH-MAZING Famous Artists Online Unit Study. LOVE IT!

The girls and I have had so much fun going through this together. So far we have completed the first of 10 of the artists, which was Leonardo Da Vinci. We found out tons of facts about him and his well-known paintings especially the Mona Lisa. So great. So interesting. We learned a lot together and it has really held their attention. We are looking forward to learning about more great famous artists.
Our favorite part so far was creating a Mona Lisa Parody Picture.
