Easter is right around the corner, I’ve been thinking a lot about what the season really means for me as a Christian. I think it’s important to remember the sacrifice Jesus made for us and the hope that his resurrection brings to our lives. And as a mom, I want to make sure that my kids understand the true meaning of Easter too. It’s always fun to read the Easter Story in our favorite Bible Story Reading Book or do a good Resurrection Eggs Activity but, how about adding in some Christian Easter Crafts?
I think it’s a unique and fun way to teach our kids about Jesus’ life and the events that led up to His crucifixion and resurrection. Plus, it’s always fun to get creative and crafty with my kiddos!
The little kids seem to love anything that involves stickers, (I know my girls did when they were little) so I thought they would love to make a He is Risen banner with construction paper, stickers, and markers. It’ll be a fun way to introduce the story of Jesus’ resurrection, and it can be used for decoration for years.
Looking for a craft idea for older kids? How about making a DIY prayer journal! This craft involves creating a personalized prayer journal using a blank notebook, scrapbook paper, Mod Podge or glue, scissors, ribbon, and pens or markers. Start by cutting the scrapbook paper to fit the cover of the notebook. Apply a thin layer of Mod Podge or glue to the back of the scrapbook paper before carefully attaching it to the notebook cover. Repeat the process for the back cover of the notebook. Finally, cut a strip of ribbon or elastic band and glue it to the inside of the back cover. This personalized prayer journal is a great way for older kids to reflect on their faith and engage in a regular prayer practice.
Doing crafts is a great way to teach the true meaning of Easter.
However, there are other ways to keep the focus on Jesus during Easter apart from crafting. As a family, we enjoy reading the Bible together, attending church, and volunteering in various ways. These are all significant ways to honor Jesus and commemorate Resurrection Day.
