Free Online Music Lessons for Kids
I have done a few guitar lessons that I found online with my oldest daughter, but I struggle with it because I never learned to play an instrument. I have no clue about music theory (if that is what it’s called) so it’s pretty close to impossible to teach them.
But alas, where there is a will there is a way, yeah? So I google until I find something or someone to get us started. Cause I know I can’t be the only unmusical parent to have musical kids that want to learn musical stuff…right? OK and did I also mention my budget for music is ZERO, so it will also have to be free…oh please, please, please let there be something?
Alright, Google whatchya got?
YEEEEEESSSSSS! Score!
I found some great free online music lessons for kids. Check it out.

Loved your article. My daughter is musical while the rest of the family is not. It has been difficult for me to gauge how to help her with practices and how I should help her along, if she’s too young for lessons, etc. This article really made me feel better. Thanks.
Hello. I read that you had started a child on GuitarTricks video lessons. How is that going? I have been considering their program for my children but would love to hear feedback from other parents.
Forest. This is amazing!!! We have been doing Hoffman as well, but kids are begging to try other instruments too. Since I do not know how to play, this is perfect. Thank you!!
Thank you for this article. I really liked how you revealed if there were any hidden costs.
I am in your same boat!! I am musically challenged also never learning an instrument. We have taken various guitar lessons for my older son but my 9 year old started using Hoffman Acadmy this year and it is superb!! He does a great job teaching how to read notes along w teaching actual piano. I love it. Next year we will try to make a budget for actual lessons so he can move to the next level.
Thanks for this great list of resources! I love your site 🙂
Oh I know!!!! It is so challenging to get music in when you have never learned an instrument ever…lol! I have just started Hoffman with my 8 year old. We shall see how it goes.
