Homeschooling is a calling, but let’s be honest—it’s also a battleground with many spiritual attacks. We’re not just teaching math and reading; we’re raising disciples, shaping character, and standing in the gap for our kids. And any time we step into God’s calling, the enemy takes notice.
Spiritual attacks on homeschool moms aren’t always obvious. They don’t come with flashing warning signs, but they creep in through our thoughts, emotions, and circumstances. The good news? We’re not powerless. God’s Word gives us wisdom and strength to fight back.
Here are seven common spiritual attacks homeschool moms face—and how to overcome them with truth.

The Spiritual Attacks of Doubt
“Did God really call me to this?”
“Am I even capable of teaching my kids?”
“What if I mess them up?”
Doubt whispers lies that make you question everything—your abilities, your decisions, and even God’s direction. But let’s be clear: if God called you to homeschool, He will equip you. Period.
Truth to Hold On To:
“Faithful is He who calls you, and He also will do it.” — 1 Thessalonians 5:24
When doubt comes knocking, shut the door with truth. God doesn’t call the equipped; He equips the called.
Fight Back: Keep a journal of God’s faithfulness—those little moments of answered prayers, breakthroughs, and growth. When doubt tries to take over, read through it and remind yourself that He is in control.
The Attack of Envy
Scrolling through social media can be dangerous. You see another mom’s perfect homeschool space, her kids doing science experiments that don’t end in disaster, or a peaceful morning routine that looks nothing like the chaos in your house. Suddenly, your heart sinks and you think, I don’t have the patience to homeschool.
Envy is sneaky. It makes you feel like someone else is living your best life while you’re stuck in the struggle. But comparison is a thief, and envy poisons gratitude. And to keep it real, you are only seeing everyone’s highlight reels on Facebook. They aren’t perfect, they just aren’t going to post the imperfections.
Truth to Hold On To:
“A heart at peace gives life to the body, but envy rots the bones.” — Proverbs 14:30
God gave you this journey for a reason. Your family, your strengths, your challenges—they’re all part of His plan.
Fight Back: Every time envy creeps in, turn it into praise. Instead of wishing for what someone else has, thank God for what He’s given you. Write it down if you need to! Praise and gratitude are weapons in your arsenal against spiritual attacks.
The Spiritual Attack of Feeling Inferior
It’s easy to feel “less than” when you don’t have an education degree or a fancy curriculum. Maybe your child struggles in an area where other kids seem to excel.
But listen: God doesn’t measure success the way the world does. He looks at faithfulness, not perfection. We are all perfectly imperfect. It’s time to go against and break the perfect mom stereotype. There’s no such thing.
Truth to Hold On To:
“Not that we are competent in ourselves to claim anything for ourselves, but our competence comes from God.” — 2 Corinthians 3:5
Your worth isn’t tied to your credentials or how well your child reads by age six. Your identity is secure in Christ, and He strengthens you for what He’s called you to do.
Fight Back: When feelings of inferiority creep in, speak truth out loud: “God has called me. God is with me. I am enough in Him.”
The Attack of Comparison
It’s one thing to admire someone else’s homeschool, but it’s another to let it steal your joy.
Comparison leads to either pride (when you feel like you’re “doing better” than someone else) or discouragement (when you feel like you’re failing). Neither is healthy.
Truth to Hold On To:
“But each one must carefully scrutinize his own work [examining his actions, attitudes, and behavior], and then he can have the personal satisfaction and inner joy of doing something commendable without comparing himself to another.” — Galatians 6:4
God didn’t design a one-size-fits-all homeschool. Just because another mom’s method works for her family doesn’t mean it’s the right fit for yours.
Fight Back: Instead of comparing, ask God to show you what He wants for your homeschool. Lean into that, and let go of the rest.
The Spiritual Attacks of Feeling Rejected
Have you ever felt like an outsider? Maybe friends or family don’t support your homeschooling decision. Maybe your kids grumble and say they’d rather go to public school.
Rejection hurts, but remember—Jesus experienced it, too. The world won’t always understand why we do what we do, but we’re not called to please people.
Truth to Hold On To:
“Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ.” — Galatians 1:10
God’s opinion matters most.
Fight Back: Pray for strength and peace. Ask God to surround you with people who uplift and encourage you. If you don’t have a supportive community yet, keep seeking one. God will provide.
The Attack of Wanting to Quit
Every homeschool mom has that day (or week… or month). The one where you feel exhausted, burnt out, and ready to throw in the towel.
Let’s be real: homeschooling is hard. But that doesn’t mean you’re failing.
Truth to Hold On To:
“Let us not grow weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” — Galatians 6:9
There’s a harvest coming. Your work matters. Your kids may not see it now, but seeds are being planted.
Fight Back: Take breaks when needed. Adjust expectations. And most importantly, lean on Jesus—He’s the one who gives true rest.
The Spiritual Attack of Isolation
Homeschooling can feel lonely, especially if you don’t have a strong support system. The enemy loves isolation because it makes us more vulnerable to every other attack on this list.
Truth to Hold On To:
“Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up.” — Ecclesiastes 4:9-10
We weren’t meant to do this alone.
Fight Back: Make an effort to connect. Join a co-op, start a Bible study with other moms, or simply reach out to a friend. If in-person support isn’t available, find an online community. You need people who will pray with you, laugh with you, and remind you that you’re not alone.
