Here are some simple to set up and fun preschool activities to keep your littles busy while you are working with the older homeschoolers?
My littlest lady has been having so much fun learning!
She is 3 and absolutely loves doing hands-on activities…it’s by far her favorite part of school time. She loves doing The Activity Obstacle Course on days when I just need to buy some time to work with her older sisters, but her normal school which we do three days a week consists of Starfall/ Easy Peasy {gr1}/ Blue Manor (affiliate link)and what I like to call THREE-School.
THREE School is pretty much how it sounds…
I choose 3 hands-on learning activities for her to do, I guess you could say it is a lot like Tot School or Montessori.
Well I thought it would be fun to share with you our THREE-school Activities now and then.
Here is one of the sets she did this week.
1- Pony Bead Color Sort
- Ass. Colors Dollar Tree Plastic String (I tape 1 end to the tray)
- Pony Beads
I had her do 5 beads per color & she was pretty tuckered out after all 30 were beaded.
Skills used: fine motor skills, sorting, hand-eye coordination, color recognition, patience & endurance also apparently…lol
2- Mini Marshmallow 1 to 1 Letters
- Mini Marshmallow’s
- Dot marker/paper or preprinted do-a-dot page
Note: if you use a dot marker make sure it is dry before your child begins so you don’t end up with purple marshmallows.
Skills Used: fine motor skills, letter recognition, hand-eye coordination, 1 to 1 correspondence, self-control (to not eat the marshmallows until done)
3- Counting With Legos
- Plastic Numbers/or whatever you have lying around.
- Legos or any type of stackable item
Part 1- Sort the numbers and put them as seen in the picture below then count each set. i.e. 1-1, 2-2’s, 3-3’s.
Part 2- Count and stack the Legos next to the corresponding number row.
Skills Used: Counting, Number Recognition, Sorting, fine motor skills, Listening & Following Directions, Strength (those Legos can be tough)
This is what they all look like completed.
What have you been doing with your preschooler? Toddler? I would love to hear from you.
