The Seasons of Spiritual Change

Autumn is my favorite season, the cool crisp air, the smell of leaves burning, warm comfy clothes, the beginning of a new school year filled with new hope, new goals and the excitement of what God has for us  around the corner, but my favorite thing about Autumn is the beauty of a great change taking place in God’s beautiful world around us. 

I love driving along the countryside to see the magnificent new color scheme. The change goes unnoticed at first, just a subtle transformation of a leaf here or there then change quickly picks up pace and before you know it there is an abundance of noticeable changes.

Subtle Spiritual Change

When I look around at all the change taking place I am reminded of the spiritual change taking place in a believer as well if we are truly committed to the Kingdom of God. When I first made the decision to hand my life over to the Lord,  like autumn, the changes were subtle and unnoticed.

A leaf would fall off here or there or I would take on a slight tint of new change, soon all the old leaves fall away followed by the long hard winter of change, don’t worry though cause spring is always right around the corner and I always grow stronger and more awake and alive than ever before.

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! -2 Corinthians 5:17

Allowing Spiritual Change

Change is usually never easy, but necessary! As soon as  I started reading and praying and really making the decision to allow God to change me into His created purpose, change came.

I began to transform rapidly and became a new creature in Christ, a tree of righteousness, a vibrant disciple of Jesus. Now I am filled with His Spirit, learning to live in God’s presence daily and producing fruit rapidly, not for the glory of me, but for the Glory of God and His purposes.

To console those who mourn in Zion, To give them beauty for ashes, The oil of joy for mourning, The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; That they may be called trees of righteousness, The planting of the LORD, that He may be glorified. -Isaiah 61:3

My old nature had to die so that the Holy spirit could produce a new nature, a glorified nature in me. And even sometimes I think there can’t be anything else I need to change after all this, just like the seasons, the process of change begins again and God begins to pluck more old leaves, but remember spring always comes.

Stay strong during these changing seasons, sometimes it may seem like you are all alone and God has left but His word says He will NEVER leave you nor forsake you!(Deuteronomy 31:6) You always come out stronger and victorious!
