MMMMM…Who doesn’t love mac n cheese? This is the ultimate mac n cheese recipe! There is no other mac n cheese that can even come close to this yummy recipe…why, because it’s my Grandma’s:-)
There’s nothing like Grandma’s cooking!
I love my grandma, she is such a strong and amazing women! She lives about 6 hours away, so sadly I see her rarely. She used to visit often and stay with my mom for weeks at a time. As time went by, it has gotten harder for her to travel and stay for long periods of time.
Actually as I was preparing this post for you my mom sent me a message informing me that Grandma had some tests done today and they found a spot on her lung. She has to go back for more testing. CRAZY that I was just writing this post?…Or is it?…I truly believe that God has a purpose and a plan for everything that I do…yep even a mac n cheese post. So if you would please gather with me in prayer for my grandma for total health and a clean report I would greatly appreciate it! I know she is in God’s hands!
“Again I say to you, that if two of you agree on earth about anything that they may ask, it shall be done for them by My Father who is in heaven. “For where two or three have gathered together in My name, I am there in their midst.” Matthew 18:19-20
It Runs in the Family
My mom and Grandma are amazing cooks. A gene that unfortunately wasn’t passed on completely to me…lol! But whenever I make this mac n cheese, I get several compliments! Not to toot my own horn, but it is always raved about.….Toot Toot Grandma!! I have her to thank for a lot of recipes that have been passed down from generation to generation…yay! This is by far the most loved and delicious mac n cheese ever in the history of mac n cheeses!
What you’ll need…
- Elbow macaroni- about 2 cups
- Sharp Cheddar Cheese (Block)
- Flour
- Dry Mustard
- Salt & Pepper
- Butter –3 tablespoons
- Milk
Yep that’s all…
Preparation of the Mac n Cheese
Boil Elbow macaroni to al dente (which just means pasta which should be removed from the boiling water just before it has fully cooked through) so almost done basically. While the pasta is cooking slice your cheese. Spray your casserole dish with light cooking spray & lightly flour the bottom of dish. Preheat oven to 350.
Drain pasta completely. Then you will start to layer the ingredients in the dish as follows…
Layer with pasta then sprinkle flour, sprinkle dry mustard, and salt and pepper,
Then cover with a layer of cheese…
Repeat…Continue layering until dish is full(about 3-4 layers) ending with a completely covered layer of cheese on top.
On top of the cheese sprinkle dry mustard, salt and pepper, then add butter. Next you will add the milk… there is no set amount just add milk until you can start to see it within the dish about 1/2 way to the top of the dish.
This feeds my family of 5 with leftovers.
Bake at 350 for 1 hour uncovered. Enjoy:-)
