Homeschooling preschool should be fun! Try to incorporate a lot of different fun, short activities. Preschoolers learn through play and exploring the world around them!
Also, read to them often. Take nature walks with them. Invite them to help you in the kitchen, sort and fold laundry, and clean together.
As we engage with our little ones, it’s important to remember the power of learning and development at every age. A great reminder can be found in some inspiring learning quotes that celebrate the journey of learning. These quotes can provide motivation and insight, not only for our children but for ourselves as parents and educators. So, keep exploring, keep teaching, and remember that every moment is an opportunity for learning.
It really is just about teaching them to learn through experiences and the world all around them.
This is our homeschool Preschool Wrap-up for the week:
Jasmine, who btw will be 3 YEARS OLD this coming Tuesday, matched her colors with this great color puzzle from Carisa at 1+1+1 =1. (She has 2 printable puzzles to choose from)

We worked on listening skills and following directions with these mats I downloaded from A Mommy’s Adventures (no longer available). We used 4 colors of mega blocks, but you can use any kind of manipulative you have.
Update: This printable was no longer available, so I made you one. Click the image below to get your instant download (3 different versions). 🙂
How we used them:
- Pick up the red block and place it in the circle
- Pick up the green block and place it under the square
- Pick up the yellow and green blocks and place them in the square
- Pick up the blue block and place it on the left side of the square
- Pick up the red block and place it on the bottom left corner of the mat
- Pick up the green block and place it between the square and the heart

I wrote the letters of the alphabet on our chalkboard and had Jada trace the letters with a paintbrush and water.

For Jasmine, I put the chalk in her hand and helped her draw shapes with the chalk, then she traced them with the paintbrush.
Jasmine tried making confetti with my hole punch, but her little muscles weren’t quite strong enough. She could do it with me holding the paper and her using both hands.

Sorting socks — this is usually their chore when I do laundry, but in the summer they don’t wear any to sort. So I thought I would get them ready since the weather is quickly getting cooler. They think it’s fun… especially Jasmine. She LOVES to sort.

Our new smartmat purchased for $1 at Target is a 2-sided dry-erase mat. One side is for beginning sounds and the other is for practicing the alphabet.

This one isn’t the prettiest necklace I’ve seen, but it worked those little hand muscles. It’s a pipe cleaner beaded with large elbow macaroni. Not as easy as normal beading — you have to push and pull. Jada colored hers with markers afterward. You could also use Tempera paint.

I gave Jasmine beads since she had a hard time with the macaroni, but later she was persistent and managed to get some on herself!
Just for cuteness, here’s my 16-week-old little lady, Jordan. She’s sitting in two boppy pillows, drooling everywhere like a Saint Bernard. First tooth coming soon!

Jasmine loves her do-a-dot markers!!

We learned about taste from our Flip-Flap Body Book!

This is a really great book that explains what happens to food when you swallow, how a baby grows in its mother, and all about the senses. After reading, we did our own little taste test experiment.

I blindfolded the girls and had them taste different foods. I asked, “How does it taste? Is it sweet, sour, salty, or bitter?” They REALLY enjoyed this one!

Next, I had them make their own PB&J’s… again a hit with the little ladies!

We finished our week with an imagination station art project. See how to set that up here!
Just give ‘em a bunch of stuff and let them create!

Jada has also been working through her Hooked on Phonics. I’ve been really pleased with this material so far. She read her first story and was so proud of herself. Momma was pretty proud too! The story consisted of all the ‘at’ words.

Hi! I’m a new follower. 🙂
I like the idea of using a paintbrush to trace the letters on the chalkboard. I uses the write-wipe-write technique on the chalkboard but we normally use a small sponge. I might give this a try to change things up a bit.
