Preschool is my all time favorite to teach! It’s just so fun! Some moms may disagree about using curriculum for preschool. But I think it’s OK to start them early. As long as you keep it fun and short there is no harm in it.
We’re not talking about 8 hours a day here, more like 20-30 minutes 2-3 days a week is my norm. So they have plenty of time to just be a kid! Along with curriculum, I love to do hands-on activities.

Letter of the week preschool curriculum that I used as one of our resources when I first started homeschooling.
Brightly Beaming Resources offers completely free and complete curriculum for babies all the way up to age 11. It has the very popular preschool curriculum, Letter of the Week. Your preschoolers learn one letter per week. This program gives you the lessons, activities, and even book lists.
For the upper levels they offer Science of the Week, Spellbright Spelling Lists, Country of the Week, Journal Prompts and others. They also offer an excellent program for 9-11 year olds called Blazers of Greatness that takes them through studying popular heroes and heroines.

I absolutely love these ideas! I’ve been a nanny for the past 5 years now and just recently started caring for new age groups, newborns to preschoolers. I have been wracking my brain trying to figure out how to keep them occupied and interested in learning new skills and fun activities. Hi Mark! Yes, you can homeschool in the state of Georgia! I checked the Georgia laws for you and they are as follows, (please check the HSLDA website for yourself to get the full info) https://hslda.org/content/hs101/GA.aspx?
1- File an intent to homeschool your 4th grader with their current school, this is important so they don’t mark your child absent or truant. And every year thereafter by September 1, you must submit a “declaration of intent to utilize a home study program” to the Georgia Department of Education. You can access online and printable versions of the declaration of intent on the department’s website. However, you won’t need to file this intent for your young ones until they are 7.

2- 180 days of education with each school day consisting of at least four and one-half school hours. (keep a record)
3- must provide a basic educational program that includes, but is not limited to, reading, language arts, mathematics, social studies, and science.
4- At the end of every school year, you must write a report of the progress that your child made in each of the required subjects. You must keep this report in your records for at least three years. It does not have to be submitted to public school officials.
5- Your child must be tested at least every three years, beginning at the end of the 3rd grade. You may administer the test if you do this “in consultation with a person trained in the administration and interpretation of norm reference tests.” Test results do not have to be submitted to public school officials. I know I was amazed when I set out to homeschool! I couldn’t believe all of the great resources that are available for this age group! And yes it can be very confusing and even scary at first, but it really is soooo worth it and fun at this level.
