7 Fun Ways to Keep Kids Busy on Rainy Days

Rainy days can really kill the fun and make your kids all stir crazy. Keeping the kids busy having fun is the best way to distract them from watching out the windows waiting for the sun to shine again. Or staring at the iPad in a daze. With these fun ways to keep kids busy on rainy days, you can get a break from hearing “I’m bored” over and over.

1- Build a fort

Blanket forts are a favorite childhood memory we all have. Building a fort uses up physical energy helping calm wiggly children. Once your fort is done you get to enjoy time for imaginative and creative play. Ask your children what they are doing. Are you camping on the moon? How about exploring the jungle?

2- Dust off the Board Games

Pull out a board game and challenge your children to create their own rules. Children love to create their own rules and this is the perfect opportunity to do so and see how it all works out. Join in on the fun and see what happens when your child gets to create the rules for you in the game. Besides board games are the sneakiest way to learn.

3- Get Crafty

Grab out the craft box and set your kids to getting creative whatever you have on hand. This is a great way to use up odds and ends left over from older projects you have done in the past. If your child needs a bit of inspiration give Pinterest a try. Once your child gets going they may never want to stop.

4- Play-doh Creations

Pull out the play-doh or make your own. Play-doh is a great way to keep kids busy on rainy days for hours with imaginative, creative, sensory play. Raid the kitchen for cookie cutters, rolling pins and other fun additions for your children to run their own bakery. Grab feathers, stones, and other interesting odds and ends from your craft box and invite your child to try and add them to their creations.

5- Cuddle and Read

Grab a stack of books and some not so messy snacks and dive in for a day of reading. This is a great rainy activity for book worms. Build comfy reading nooks around the house and let everyone relax with a book of choice. This is a great way to encourage lifetime readers.

6- Cuddle and Netflix

Pull the blankets and pillows into the living room and get everyone comfortable for a day binge watching movies on Netflix. 7- Dance in the Rain

A little rain and mud never hurt anyone and you can truly enjoy a chance to give your child a taste of the childhood you got to enjoy before so much was expected out of parents.
